With the COVID-19 pandemic creating, almost daily, changes to both our general and business communities we wanted to provide a weekly platform to provide updates as to what has transpired over the previous week (CARES Act, Shelter In Place, Essential Business Designations, County Health Services Declarations, Economic Development etc.). Further, to assist with visioning, as we look forward to what resources and actions will need to be taken today, to prepare for our future recovery. read more

So much of Danville’s charm comes from the small business community.  Due to COVID-19 SIP restrictions, our treasured restaurants and shops are struggling to stay afloat while still doing their best to serve their neighbors.  In an effort to drive business to local restaurants through take-out, the Burgess Team has initiated a campaign where one lucky winner each week in April receives a $100 gc to a local shop/restaurant.

Our #GivingTuesday promotion has been well received, driving awareness of the many to-go and online ordering options Danville’s creative restaurateurs have designed to safely support dining out during quarantine.   To date, we’ve partnered with Gianni’s Italian Bistro, Harvest Danville and Old Towne Danville Bakery.  We look forward to continuing our promotion and reminding our community that there are many ways to keep our small businesses thriving through thick and thin!

Small Business Relief Fund

The importance of small business to our local community is emotionally rooted in the act of buying and selling with and from our friends and neighbors. This is most represented by our local restaurants, service providers and specialized retailers. All of these businesses are the fabric of our community, providing us with materials and services that we all need on a daily basis, while giving back to the community through fundraisers, donations, sales tax revenue and overall community financial health! When we patronize local small businesses, we are essentially giving money back to our own local community. This money is then used for local police and fire departments as well as our great schools. Our thriving small businesses also help to improve and maintain the property values throughout the community, improving every homeowner’s bottom line while generating more property taxes for our local government and services. read more
