DANVILLE, CA — The San Francisco Chronicle named Esin, an upscale Cal-Med restaurant in Danville, as one of its “Top East Bay Restaurants.”
The paper praised the “exceptional culinary finesse” of the husband and wife owners, Esin and Curtis deCarion. The author had a particular affinity for the mushroom risotto, which “tastes like pure forest, with silky spinach leaves complementing the mushrooms with their sweetness; and meatballs, made with sustainably raised Dixon lamb, are paired with freshly made pita and an almost decadently soft and creamy hummus.”
The restaurant at 750 Camino Ramon opened in 2008, following the now defunct Café Esin in San Ramon. The couple have since opened Revel Kitchen & Bar and Social Bird in Lafayette.
The menu features an eclectic mix of California-Mediterranean cuisine like braised grass-fed lamb shank, ricotta gnocchi, salmon tartare, chicken breast with feta and lemon couscous, and hummus, olive and cheese plates. It also boasts an extensive list of California wines, creative cocktails, and decadent desserts.
In addition to The Chronicle list, Esin has been recognized in the Zagat Review, the Michelin Guide, Wine Spectator, and TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence.
