Citizen Of The Year, Business Of The Year Named In Danville

DANVILLE, CA — Community members in Danville have been recognized for their hard work and commitment to the town.

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce announced its 2022 Community Awards recipients Tuesday, including Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year.

“We are honored to recognize business and non-profit leaders in our community who have excelled in many ways in making the Danville area the outstanding community it is to live, work and play,” President and CEO of the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce, told Patch in an email.

Citizen of the Year was awarded to David Miller. Miller is the founder of the “Hot Summer Nights” Car Show (now called “Hot Summer Sundays.”) The annual event in Danville has enhanced business in Danville’s historic downtown. More than 15,000 people per day attend the event from all over Nothern California.

Face Reality Skincare was named Business of the Year. The headquarters moved to Danville in 2021 and the number of employees has doubled.

The clinic specializes in acne treatment and they partner with more than 2,500 estheticians.

“While we’re very proud of our own clinic, our #1 company focus is supporting our partner estheticians, five of whom are Danville businesses. They’re the reason we’re able to continue growing and succeeding,” Jeremy Soine, CEO, said.

Business Person of the Year was awarded to Darren Matte. Matte opened Danville Harvest and Cocina Hermanas. Both restaurants have received creditable recognition for their success.

The Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area was named Best Non-Profit of the Year. The organization welcomes 40 babies a year, offering support services to their families.

Gayle Israel was named Employee of the Year. Israel is the Chief of Staff to Contra Costa County Supervisor Candace Andersen. She is a Congressional Award Gold Medal winner.

Maria Cooper, Founder and CEO of Above and Beyond Productions, was named Ambassador of the Year. Cooper produces video content for the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce. Her business motto centers around providing clients with quality cinematography and creating lifelong memories.
