Here’s how long parklet dining options will be available in Danville, thanks to a recent town council action.

DANVILLE, CA — Parklet dining is here to stay until Jan. 3, the Danville Town Council decided this month.

Al fresco dining in parklets was first given the OK in May 2020 as local businesses fought for survival during the coronavirus pandemic.

It appears that expanded outdoor dining options could become permanent in Danville — the town said it’s working on incorporating more outdoor dining space into its updated master plan for downtown.

“Having additional outdoor seating in the parklets has helped restaurants begin to recoup some of the losses caused by the pandemic,” the town wrote on its website. “Residents and visitors have also enjoyed the atmosphere of al fresco dining downtown and the majority of businesses were supportive of extending the outdoor parklets through the rest of the year.”
