The annual July 4 Kiwanis Club parade in partnership with the Town of Danville is returning next week, with this year’s event including more than 100 participating groups and seeking to showcase and emphasize local businesses in the San Ramon Valley.
“Celebrating Businesses of the San Ramon Valley” is the theme for this year’s parade, with a local business owner – Marcia Harmon of Cottage Jewel in Danville – serving as the grand marshall.
“We are thrilled that Kiwanis is saluting business owners in the San Ramon Valley whose resilience and determination have kept our communities vibrant and alive,” Judy Lloyd, CEO of the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce, told Embarcadero Media. “The selection of our own Marcia Harmon from Cottage Jewel in Downtown Danville, a 25-year business in our Town, reminds us to support local businesses by shopping local.”
In addition to recognizing longstanding local businesses, Lloyd said she was excited for the opportunity to showcase new businesses in Danville during the upcoming festivities, with more than 30,000 attendees expected to attend the event, according to town officials.
“We’re also proud of the many new women-owned businesses whose diversity adds to the fabric of our Town,” Lloyd said. “We invite families coming to the 4th of July Parade next Thursday to stick around and see what Danville has to offer.”
The parade is scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m. next Thursday (July 4) from San Ramon Valley High School before proceeding along Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard.
Ahead of the main event, attendees are invited to begin setting up for seats along the parade route starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with street closures along the parade route set to start at 6 a.m. Thursday.
