Danville will ring in the holidays by lighting its favorite tree, alongside Santa, the Snow Angel, and local choirs.
DANVILLE, CA — Danville is once again hosting one of its oldest and proudest traditions: the 48th annual Lighting of the Old Oak Tree.
The lighting will take place Friday, Nov. 29 at 5:15 p.m. near the Old Oak Tree on Diablo Road, between West El Pintado and I-680. The event will start with holiday favorites sung by local choirs, followed by greetings from Danville Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Judy Lloyd, and Danville Mayor Karen Stepper. Santa and the Snow Angel will then lead the crowd in a countdown to the lighting of the tree at 6:30 p.m.
After the lighting, guests are invited to stroll downtown and enjoy holiday entertainment at Prospect Park Plaza, Veterans Hall, Church Court, and 571 Hartz Avenue. See here for a full schedule, and here for a map.
The following day, come back downtown for Small Business Saturday, which will feature live music at Prospect Park Plaza, and free Danville tote bags at select retailers, which are all part of the larger Swing into Danville campaign.
The event will take place rain or shine. Portions of Hartz Avenue, Diablo Road, Prospect Avenue, El Pintado, Front Street, and Linda Mesa Avenue will be closed from 4 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m. Friday, with a portion of Diablo Road closed from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. See here for more information.
