DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Three Valleys Community Foundation to offer a workshop Monday evening on the fentanyl crisis.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, according to the California Department of Public Health. Based on preliminary data, 5,722 people in California died of fentanyl in 2021, and 224 of them were 15-19 years old.
The free Monday night workshop, which is part of the Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Mental Health Outreach Initiative, will bring together local experts to explain more about fentanyl, the local risk, and what the community is doing to keep its children safe. The workshop will feature overdose rescue training, a free Narcan kit, and information about local resources. Featured speakers include:

The workshop will take place Monday from 6-7:30 at the San Ramon Valley Unified School District at 699 Old Orchard Drive in Danville. Free tickets can be obtained here, but walk-ins are also welcome. Jersey Mike’s will provide refreshments.
