Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by discovering the incredible local businesses that make Danville, Alamo, and Blackhawk such a special area to live, work, and visit.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of For The Valley, the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is launching 250 Reasons to Support Local—a five-week community challenge that turns summer shopping into a community-wide game of clues, visits, and prizes. 

From July 6 – August 7, explore local businesses, share your experiences on social media, and earn chances to win weekly prizes plus a $250 grand prize at the end of the challenge. Make sure to follow @DanvilleAreaChamber on Instagram and/or Facebook for clues, reveals, and winners!

No purchase necessary to participate.
Supporting local can be as simple as stopping in, saying hello, and sharing your experience.

 

⚡ The Challenge At a Glance

Follow @DanvilleAreaChamber for weekly clues, participating business reveals, and winner announcements.

Each week, visit one or more participating local businesses and share your experience on Facebook or Instagram by tagging the business, tagging @DanvilleAreaChamber, and using #250Reasons. Every participating business you visit and post about earns an entry into that week’s prize drawing, and sharing your reason for supporting local earns you a bonus entry.

🎁 Three prizes of $25 gift cards for local businesses will be awarded each week.
🏆 Visit and post about at least five different participating businesses during the campaign to qualify for the $250 Grand Prize in local gift cards.
📅 Challenge runs July 6 – August 7.
 

🕵️‍♀️ How the Challenge Works

Each week features five local Chamber businesses… but you won’t know who they are right away 👀 A new round of the challenge kicks off every Sunday:

1️⃣ Sunday at 12pm – The Clues Drop: Get a sneak peek at the week’s 5 participating businesses and see if you can guess who they are. Clues to be posted on our Facebook and Instagram.Participants are welcome to get a head start on the challenge before Monday officially kicks things off.

2️⃣ Monday at 8am – The Reveal: Clues solved (or not 😄), we reveal that week’s five participating businesses on our Facebook and Instagram. 

3️⃣ Monday–Friday – Go Explore: Visit one or more of that week’s participating businesses and share the experience on your social media:

• • • Snap a photo 📸
    • Post on Facebook and/or Instagram
    • Tag the business
    • Tag @DanvilleAreaChamber
    • Use #250Reasons

Optional (but highly encouraged 💛): Share your own reason for supporting local in your caption to help us reach our community goal of #250Reasons.

4️⃣ Friday at 8pm – Entries Close: Last call for that week’s entries!

5️⃣ Saturday at 12pm – Winners Announced: Weekly winners will be selected and notified via DM. Winners must respond within 24 hours or we’ll pick another lucky participant.

Then… we do it all again the next Sunday with five brand-new businesses and five fresh chances to explore, discover, and win.
 

📸 Photo Requirements (a.k.a. Your Proof You Were There!)

We’re not looking for perfection. We’re just looking for proof you showed up and supported local ❤️

Your post can include:

• • • A selfie inside or outside the business
    • A photo of you enjoying your meal, drink, product, or experience.
    • Something fun or unique inside the business
    • A photo featuring the official 250 Reasons tabletop sign

Just make sure it’s from your actual visit. Stock photos, screenshots, or reposted business images don’t count. Multiple posts, Stories, Reels, or photos from the same business in the same week still count as one entry per business.

We love real moments! Smiles, great meals, favorite finds, friendly faces, and those “this is why I love this place” kind of experiences. The more authentic, the better. You might just inspire someone else to discover their next favorite local spot.

FAQ: “Do I have to make a purchase to participate?”

No. Purchases are encouraged to support our local businesses, but not required to participate in the challenge.

 

🎟️ Weekly Prizes

Each participating business you visit and post about earns one entry into that week’s drawing.
Each week we’ll give away: 🎁 Three $25 gift cards to local businesses.

Examples:

• • • Visit 1 business = 1 entry
    • Visit 3 businesses = 3 entries
    • Visit all 5 businesses = 5 entries

Multiple posts, Stories, Reels, or photos from the same business during the same week count as a single entry for that business.

More visits with different participating businesses = more entries = more chances to win. Repeat winners from week to week are allowed, so keep exploring and keep posting all summer long!

 

⭐ Bonus Entry

Want an extra shot at winning? Tell us why you love supporting local. Add your reason in your caption and include #250Reasons – whether it’s community pride, unique finds, amazing service, or just the joy of seeing familiar faces around town.

Posts that include a personal reason for supporting local will earn an extra bonus entry for that week.

 

🏆 Grand Prize Challenge

Here’s the big one…

Visit and post about at least five different participating businesses during the entire campaign using the required tags and hashtag:

    • Tag @DanvilleAreaChamber
    • Use #250Reasons

Multiple posts, Stories, Reels, or carousel posts from the same business still count as a single qualifying visit.
