DANVILLE, CA – The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its very first Health & Wellness Day on the Green, scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The event is offered in partnership with the Town of Danville.
The event is offered free to the public and is an opportunity for the community to celebrate Danville’s amazing quality of life and health & wellness in our region on the Town Green, 420 Front Street, Danville, CA 94526.
“In the Danville Area and Greater San Ramon Valley region, we’ve seen an uptick in businesses in health, fitness, wellness, spa and beauty sectors. This will be a great day on the Town Green and a chance for families and friends to participate in fitness classes and demonstrations and visit local businesses and non-profit organizations who are focused on wellness in our community,” said Judy Lloyd, President & CEO of the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event features Master of Ceremonies Brodie Brazil of NBC Sports-California and a welcome by Danville Vice Mayor Karen Stepper. The public is invited to see a videotaped interview with Danville resident Stephen Piscotty, who has played baseball with the Oakland A’s, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, and St. Louis Cardinals. Town of Danville mascot, “Auggie the Acorn” will also visit at 11:00 AM.
Twenty-five businesses and non-profits who serve our community in the Danville area will be on hand as well as a featured performance by Next Step Dance Studio, fitness classes and a martial arts demonstration. A detailed schedule of activities is attached.
The first 100 people to visit the Chamber of Commerce table, located inside the Community Center, will receive a complimentary healthy treat, created especially for the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce by Old Towne Danville Bakery. One of Danville’s newest restaurants, Falafel Boy, will also be on site.
The Chamber will be conducting an opportunity drawing – free to the public – for a personally autographed baseball by San Francisco Giants Coach Alyssa Nakken, the first woman to coach full-time in the MLB. In 2022, Nakken became the first woman to coach on the field during a regular season game, serving as the first base coach. During 2022 spring training, Nakken served as the acting bench coach, another MLB first for a woman. The move signified her continued emergence into more prominent roles with the team.
The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce works in partnership with the Town of Danville on several events, including the Lighting of the Old Oak Tree, scheduled for Friday, November 24, 2023, in Historic Downtown Danville. Along with its business and economic development efforts, the Chamber has partnered with Three Valleys Community Foundation, creating the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce Fund, focused on a Youth Mental Health Outreach Initiative and a Women’s Enterprise Initiative.
